So, can actual wave functions be trigonometric waves? As described in the paper, one phase corresponds to a “1” and the shifted version corresponds to “0,” where the wave is shifted up or back by some amount (pi, specifically). The left panel shows a reference frame moving with the object, while the right panel shows a stationary reference frame. so one cannot use these results to infer anything about the rate at which the two clocks run in this frame. General relativity is Einstein’s extension of special relativity to include gravity. It was all youthful romanticism; I hadn’t even had a physics course yet. The sound will shake some leaves, and if we were careful enough we might find somewhere that some thorn had rubbed against a leaf and made a tiny scratch that could not be explained unless we assumed the leaf were vibrating. Restoring force is provided causing the wave motion. Sound also propagates in other media, and the behavior can be quite different. This is because a particle being a matter wave, is inherently delocalized (spread out in space). But a probabilistic version of the theory championed by Niels Bohr (middle row, far right) won the day. These two situations both apply to transverse waves, where the displacement is perpendicular to the direction of travel.
